Nightbird build update

Project rolling on nicely now with the neck installed. Alessandro at Patrick Eggle guitars, who is doing the build, didn’t want to do plastic binding so he’s used maple on the ebony fingerboard, and will do a dragged strip on the body showing the fine figuring on the maple top edge.
The Nightbird neck radius on my original is really flat (around 20”) which suits me fine (classical player!) so he’s copying that.

Neck blank is on the body at last.. ebony board to follow. Got original bridge, tailpiece and knobs. Pickups a NOS set of ‘98 Joe Barden 2 tones I’ve had since new…

Yes, I made the call not to build as an absolute replica…Same reason not to copy the binding, or the pickups. It’s done out of a spirit of respect really, for the innovations that made the Nightbird so special 40 years ago.
