No more wimpy music stand

Finally ordered a real music stand. I have a nice fold-up one, great for sheet music but pretty wobbly when I put a book on it. Found this stand on special at Musicians Friend for $19.99, then found that shipping is free if I have it sent to my local Guitar Center. This is a real solid stand!

Congratulations. I went with a similar "On Stage" brand a couple of years ago; not conveniently portable, but sturdy.

I've got one of these as well as a host of folding wire stands and a couple that for all practical purposes are not portable. Which one leaves with me depends upon a lot of factors.

Both of those look nice, but more than I paid. If I was going to gig with one, I'd probably spend the extra bucks for better portability.

Note that all of the visible stands here are garden variety folding wire stands. Of course a couple of them may be 30+ years old and maybe wire stands were made more robustly then... :wink:

The wire ones are portable, but they don't seem to hold up so well. I think they did better years ago. I do see a few more solid ones in some of those pics, though, too.
