there is always a lesson to learn

Thanks CJD! I have been playing guitar since I was 13 -- played professionally full time for 25 years -- and STILL I am amazed at how much more there is to learn about all of this. I am pretty adept at avoiding neck resets. I did have one done on my Martin D-28 -- but it is a '73 and I have had it since 1990. It was TIME. Other guitars: there is always a shim or a slot or a string gauge or something to make it work without resetting the neck. That DV52 looked very dealable to me. Hopefully, I am right -- but like I said -- there is always a lesson to learn!

Is it your second DV52? I see you list a 97 on your sig but the listing mentions a 94...? :?
Never mind...just read the fine prints in the questions at bottom of listing.....

Yeah, he didn't know much about the guitar, and I can tell you, he never played it either. This thing hasn't been played at all: zero fret wear, back of the neck looks like it's never known sweat. Weird. The guitar is very tight -- needs to be played. Nice tone but sounds green -- like a NEW guitar. Weirdest thing. I'll play it :D

After you break it in for a few weeks/months, I'd love to hear your impressions of how it compares to the D28.

DV52's are wonderful guitars... glad to hear you made a good call on this & that it's all working out!

It's very different than a D-28. This guitar does not have the deep bass of my D-28, my D-30 Guild or my Jf30-12 for that matter. What it does have is a very balanced, bell-like tone. I did a recording with it today, and the guitar's tone translated very well to the "tape." My friend has a high end Larrivee with spruce, rosewood and scalloped bracing. This guitar sounds a lot like that one. It is very different than I thought it would be. I am not at all disappointed -- only surprised. Another friend of mine has a 60's D50. This guitar sounds nothing at all like that one either.
