Well, it's been about a year since I performed. I got a call this morning to fill in for a cancellation at a local restaurant/attraction.



A full acoustic set in the Delta Room while people eat from the buffet. I'm going to use my CO-2 since there is no amplification.
I'm planning on playing some old country and folk songs mixed with some of my personal favorites.
It is only for an hour (6:30 - 7:30), but it pays well and I get to eat from the buffet. I've been scheduled to play here a couple of times next month.

Nice! Enjoy, both the gig and the buffet! I tend to like a good buffet. They disappeared during the pandemic. I've been thinking about the Chinese one I used to go to when I worked in town. Called them a couple days ago and they have the buffet again. May have to have lunch next time I'm in town for errands.

When I was the high school baseball coach, in middle Tennessee, we played teams from west Tennessee every couple years and always tried to arrange travel time so the team could eat one meal at The Old Country Store. We were never disappointed.

What an easy gig.
I played for an hour and ate some catfish, chicken, white beans, squash, sweet potatoes, and crackling cornbread.
Home by 8:30 with a full belly and cash in my pocket.

Yeah. Stuball lives about an hour from Jackson, going toward Nashville.

Yes and front entrance looks the same. We ate there in the early 2000s so 20 years ago. Players loved it because of so many choices and the parents that traveled with the team for those trips loved it too.

Good on you. That sounds like a really fun time. Sometimes it's nice to just play your guitar and sing and not have to worry much about sound checks, too much/too little volume, feedback etc. I'm sure you did great!!!

Yes!
Sometimes, I think everything has got to be perfect while playing. I guess that's just the musician in me. But I saw this quote by Les Paul yesterday before this gig, "The audience, they're not professionals. They just love music. It isn't necessary to play over their heads to be admired." I need to remember this and enjoy the performance.

It's a fixture in Jackson, TN (53 years). It's a big attraction just off I-40. They have the store, restaurant, cafe, village with shops, Casey Jones' home and museum, and several old buildings.
