If anyone could post a photo of the back of the headstock of their acoustic that has Grover Imperials I would be grateful.
You can blur out the serial number. This Guild arrived with the tuning pegs replaced by the previous owner. They are junk.
I'm leaning toward the Imperials with genuine MOP buttons. They would do the guitar justice.
I have the specs but a visual reference would certainly help in my decision. I'm trying to get a better feel for how much drilling and filling will be involved.
Thank You.

Hello Mike,

I'm traveling the U.S. right now, but here's what I can do from here:

Maybe the Grover Imperials would be a little too much for your guitar. The headstock in the photo is of an Artist Award, which has a headstock that's quite a bit bigger than the one on your guitar.

Anyway, hope this helps!

Sincerely,

Thanks. I was afraid of that.

Original tuners on an '80 D-35,

I had to file a small amount of material off the bottom og the "point" on the base of the Imperials to fit. The rather large base covered all the indentations of the original tuners. No drilling of the hole through the headstock was necessary, the new bushings fit perfectly. Of course I had to drill mounting screw holes.

Replaced with Grover Imperials,

Then I replaced the rather heavy knobs with ebony. This made a significant weight reduction and looked more understated on my D-35 which is a plain looking guitar

Thanks very much Russ. Quite informative!
If I were to go the Imperial route I could drop some weight by using MOP buttons.
I guess for now the word, for me, would be vacillating.
