The image above shows the serial number.
It's hard to judge because some parts are hidden, but I know the last 4 of the 6 digits following KL, so could you please tell me the last serial number for 1991 and the last serial number for 1992? I think you can tell if it was made in 1991 or 1992.

I can tell by the look, they're not as chunky as the later Grovers, much more of the milk bottle look.

A modern Grover Rotomatic.

Well here's a post I found, not that it's a substantiated fact, but confirms my memory:

Grover has retained its company headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, but started having their tuners made overseas in the mid-1980's.
