I ran across a 1961(?) Starfire 1 and would like to know a fair price. No Bigsby, Black finish is faded and worn. It’s literally been a wall ornament for years and I think it deserves better! I can’t tell you too much more at this point as I didn’t get a chance to play it…yet. I strongly suspect it’s going to need some TLC, but the guitar is all there including the binding. Not much to go on I know, but what do you think would be a fair offer? :?

That's tough... The black finish, assuming it's original is probably pretty rare. Seems like budget models like the SF I would be more likely to be the standard cherry mahogany/sunburst maple than more expensive models. As a I, it's still worth less than a II or II theoretically, though.

If it's in rough shape cosmetically, $800 is probably fair. If it's worn and also needs a neck reset to play right, I'd want to be more in the $600 range.

You say the finish is worn and also imply that it's been in a state of disuse for a while. To me, this means it's probably got a fair amount of fretwear, etc., plus the potential squirreliness of a guitar that's not been kept regularly tuned to pitch and periodically adjusted, played, etc.
