We live in sonic world increasing composed of processed cheese-food slices with tedious near identical production values--items seamlessly interchangeable on radio or Internet streams.

Largely the complexly contrived cheese-food slices cannot be performed live without cheating. So as my nephew, a recording engineer and producer, says, "When you go to a big name show now, you are going to see something that is more of a staged theatrical event and less of a live musical event. There will be dancers, singers and musicians on stage, but the degree to which there is any live performance of music can vary highly."

So while the UK band, Idle, previously unknown to me, is not really my thing, it is a refreshing experience to hear something raw, energetic and vital, something that can be performed live.

How to describe them?

Well maybe sort of like a UK version of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers but from the early days when the Peppers were more edgy. Throw in a large dollop of Skinhead Oi! Band Punk. Add a bit of Metal thrash. Add a bit of oddball camp. Maybe this recipe comes close to a description. Dunno.
