Hi,
I just bought a Pristine, one owner 1974 Guild D25. The owner said it was bought New in Philidelphia, PA, USA, in 1974. BUT...the SN 168563 shows to be from 1977 according to the Guild Website.

Does anybody have any idea how this can be?

Is the Molded back on my 1974??? 1977??? Guild D25 laminated or solid?

I have a PM to Hans, but it seems to be stuck in my Outbox.

Many Thanks for any and all info or clarifications.

Best,
Michael

Michael,

1. On LTG, when a message is sitting in the outbox, it's not stuck... That just means that Hans hasn't seen it yet. Once it's read, it no longer shows up there.

2. If you have an arched back, it's laminated.

3. Not sure about the date, but you're asking the right guy (Hans). The lists out there, including Guild's own website, are pretty inaccurate -- except for Hans's info in his book, which I think covers the period of your guitar. But, I don't have it handy.

It does appear to be from '77 but odder things have happened.

Check inside and see if you can find a date stamp. While it does not signify the production date it does indicate the completion of the superstructure and would be closer to the actual date of completion.
