Hi all,

I'm currently looking at a JF31-12 with the serial number AJ322444. The soundhole sticker (what are those things called?) says it was made in Westerly, but I can't find that serial number on the Westerly Guitars list which goes through 1999. Can anyone shed any light on when this guitar might have been made?

thanks much in advance

Hello Mick,

Actually, that list doesn't go to 1999. It stops at the end of 1997.
Anyway, the JF30-12 that you're looking at was made during the year 2000.

Sincerely,

Hey Mick,

Our JF30-12's are cousins.....mine is serial AJ322645, and it's a burst finish.
FWIW: either change or have the saddle changed to a compensated saddle.....You won't believe the intonation improvement.

Interesting side note: We had a furniture delivery yesterday and one of the delivery guys saw 'Zeke' sitting out on the guitar stand here in the den. He mentioned that he's a bluegrass picker and owns a 1972 Martin D28; also a banjo and a couple of mandolins. Anyway, following the delivery, I offered him the opportunity to strum it. He did a nice job of picking a quick tune and with a huge smile said he'd always heard about Guild 12ers but had never played one. He's now looking for a JF-30 12... :wink:

And here I sit on a rainy south central Tejas morning picking away on 'Zeke', a third cuppa java, and the LTG keyboard... :)

Indeed. Mr. Plumber man, congrats on your 12, the JF30-12 isn't mine yet. Guitar Center has it listed in one of their Connecticut stores. I'm debating about having them ship it to West Central Florida for a look and a strum. Thanks for the input though. Hans and I also spoke (emailed) the guitar is most likely from August 2000. The manager at the store sent me more photos, the guitar is almost as clean as my 91 JF30. Now I have to see if I can come up with the money for it. :-(

cheers

Hi, Mick;

as you can see I also play the JF 30-12 with joy and pleasure! - I still own an oulde italian EKO 12-string made in the mid-seventies; now and then I played the Taylor and the Czech BSG 12-string, however, hardly any 12-string is as well-balanced and yet full of sound and music as the Guilds, Guild really has THE very REFERENCE sound of a real good 12-string, not boomy, well-balanced up to high register - the real only choice of a 12-string.

With all my best wishes for you!!!!

Jan-Peter
