R.I.P. He was a longtime giant in the pickup industry. His bass pickups were about as good as it got.

Interesting how he encased the circuit in what looks like a block of black epoxy. (See photos in the link Rocky put to Reverb in his post above).

Very common in the pedal world due to the many IP thieves in the space.
But, surprisingly, never traced/degooped like most of the epoxied circuits from Fuller, Dumble, etc. I remember playing one when they were new, and suitably impressed, but outside of my student budget. Don't know how I'd feel about it now compared to more recently conceived circuits/tweaks and greatly educated ears, but I'd love to try one again.
