Just toured the Rock a Roll Hall of Fame and seems about the right ratio of Fenders and Gibsons displayed compared to Guilds, kinda like out in the real world, meaning they outnumber Guild by a mile. There are some cool ones in there, like Buddy Guy’s Starfire, and these couple with so many knobs:

It sure is. I would never do that to Greenie.
I believe that's the one referred to as "Yggdrasil bass" on Crown of Creation's liner notes. ;)
Given the circumstances and participants I'm ok with it, but I certainly get wanting to keep Greenie as cherry as possible. :D

(For those who may not realize, this was one of Rick Turner and Rod Wickersham's earliest experiments, before they formed Alembic.)

Charlie Gracie's X-350 is cool, but Jack Cassady's Starfire Bass is just an ugly science experiment.
I really want my bass to sound better.
How about adding more knobs?
