My understanding is that Ms. Denny has the distinction of being the only person ever recorded on a Led Zeppelin album that was not a member of the group. She provides background vocals on my favorite Led Zeppelin song, and I think she is phenomenal. I read that she was Robert Plant's favorite singer.

WOW! I'm speechless.....................................that's 3.
johnreardon, the 3 is in regards the third singer that has passed, that Tom has mentioned here. that I was unaware of.
The other two are Valerie Carter and Eva Cassidy. I'm forever indebted to him, DavismanLV, for enlightening me and expanding my knowledge of all of these fabulous female singers. I have gone out and purchased at least 3 CDs of the 2 aforementioned singers.
There were a number of times I have given up listening to music for a year or more when a performer has passed tragically ie Jim Croce and Harry Chapin, I missed so many great voices and because of this forum and Tom especially I am being educated about what I have missed.
Just an explanation of my comment nothing more.;)

There were others, Ian Stuart on piano on Boogie With Stu, plus various strings and horn players on Kashmir.
And yes, Robert was quite fond of Sandy and Fairport in general.
