I have checked into several GAD30R guitars and found Bone Nuts cut too short, Center Bracing (Back Seam) Cut short in places, Notched Lining broken and reglued in at Factory I think. Thick Finishes and Some Dents and Dings, Wood splinters under the finish, Poor Tops bi-colored etc...out of the box! The endpin holes were reamed too big for the endpins on several I checked. These Guitars played and sounded decent, which is most important, but the attention to detail seemed to be very bad. Poor Quality Control. Has anyone else had this experience? I realize these are Guild's least expensive guitar, but there are other Guitar Companies in the same price range or just slightly higher who seem to have much better quality control. It seems like they rush in building these.

I had a GAD-50 a long time ago and it suffered from some of the same issues you speak of.

1) The bone nut was cut too short (meaning not wide enough to fill its slot)

2) The end pin did not fit in at all. It needed to be glued in.

3) The finish was very thick, but thats all around with these poly finishes the GADs use.

I didnt see the other stuff you mentioned, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I tried one GAD30R for a little while - it seemed very well made to me. Sounds as if there is significant variation, speaks to poor QA on the line and poor QC in inspection.

I only found this at one dealer, but 3 GAD's he had on the wall all had finish imperfections/cracks where the neck meets the body

It's my take that the quality control has improved over the years.
I also understand that the GAD's are made in the same factory in China that makes several other brands of guitar.
The thich poly finish is on all of these other guitars as well as the GAD's.
The sound is very good on all of them but as already stated, you get what you pay for.

I would still recommend a GAD to someone that was looking for a guitar in that price range and wanted a good warranty.
By the way,
I had a GADJF48 for about a year and the only things that I didn't like about it was the thick finish and the loose end pin.
I always wondered just how good the guitar could have sounded with a nicer[thinner]finish on it.
