For some it has been/still is a long haul through a strange winter, but today's the first day of spring, so let's dig out/in.

American Robin

The harbinger of spring (pictured above) is out there right now, trying to find every worm he/she can! It's what they do!

Enjoy the 3-month run to summer, 8)

Here in new Jersey the real harbinger of spring are the Red-Winged Blackbirds since the Robins are now here year round!

Yes, we have them year round in CT as well, but their mating songs come alive in the spring.

Last year around this time I saw my first blue bird. My neighbor says she saw one on my fence a week ago.
Spring has sprung the grass is rizz, I wonder where the flowers is.

We have robins here year round, too, but all of our winter robins belong to a northern race. They head north in spring and the southern race moves back in after wintering farther south.
It's like they never left!

Spring cheers,

That's exactly what happens here in Southern New England as well, Joe.
And my harbinger of spring is when the Juncos head north.
