On the Westerly Guild Website (and duplicated elsewhere on the Web), in the section on dating your guitar, the serial numbers for Starfire IIs and Starfire IIIs are the same (AG300 001 through AG301 083). Is this a misprint, or do IIs and IIIs really share the same pool of numbers? Or do the Starfire IIIs have a different number sequence.

Forgive me if this this has been covered before; I did a search and didn't find an answer.

Hello X-170SB,

The Starfire II and III were both built on the same 'superstructure'. Whether one would become a II or a III depended on the order that came in. The guitar would become a II or a III at the last phase of construction, which was in 'final assembly'. So the answer to your question is yes, the Starfire II and III shared the same group of serial numbers.

Sincerely,

Thanks for clarifying the numbering, Hans.

This has me wondering when AG301 425 (with a Westerly sticker) would have been built?
