Starfire v should have bought one decades ago plays so effortlessly

Hi,so I bought the Starfire I posted I knew it should be pretty nice to play the seller was in a condo smallish solid state amp looked it over for major issues played it a bit checked the electronics and took it home lol
Played it with a tube amp at home finally had time,wow it’s so easy to play and Evan with the fender built pick ups still sounded pretty ok but the play ability OMG it’s better than anything I own.I mean I’m not a really talented or great player I just like it and gig occasionally with friends but I’m so in love with it .do most of you find you had a similar experience first time you played a guild semi hollow?like the title of the post I should have bought one decades ago and avoided some of the other name brand headstocks that were nowhere near this one

Congratulations on your new main squeeze! I really like my ‘97 SF4. I had previously owned a nice ES-335, so I was aware of the powers of the simi-hollow design. I was really impressed with Guild’s careful attention to detail, such as the location of the Jack plug, the 3 screw PU adjustment, and routing the wires so they weren’t visable. I could tell the builders really cared about my guitar.

Thank you for responding I think I’m going to be loving it for a long time lol played a buddy’s 2016 Memphis ES-335 recently and there is no comparison the guild is just plain better and as you said the builders really cared about what they were making in the short time I’ve had to play it and scrutinize it it really shows

The Memphis 335’s are no comparison to a good vintage model, Don’t think that represents Gibsons best.
But, you’re set with a great SFV! Enjoy!

I’m sure you are correct a Kalamazoo 335 would be something completely different

Hi I’m new to the forum just wanted to say hello and thank GAD for responding to my request for help with the serial number I have a lovely Starfire v in antique burst with what looks to be the original hard case with key and owners manual serial CH002295 I think it has fender built pick ups...
