Straight Rye Whiskey please

^^^Now I'd like to try a shot of Rye. Your description has enticed me well and good. :wink:
Historical research....... here I come.

Rye is increasing in popularity these days. Good brands today (especially for the money) include Bulleit Rye, Sazerac (6-year), and Rittenhouse 100 proof. If you like the Manhattan cocktail (as I do), nothing beats one of those made with rye instead of bourbon. The heat and spice of the rye nicely contrasts with the sweet vermouth.

Funny. I counter the sweetness of bourbon in my Manhattan by using dry vermouth :lol:

Nice to meet another enthusiast of fine spirits. I'll be visiting New Orleans this fall for a music festival, so I hope to get to the Sazerac Bar!
