The weird Reverb return issue from 2-3-22 got weirder, and finally resolved today after two months

Sold a vintage Strat, and it turns out that the kiddies nowadays just expect everything to be like new - ha - and perfect, and after monkeying around with the guitar and playing the sh*t out of it, I got it back 11 days later, Reverb said all the money goes back including shipping, ouch.

So Reverb let me keep the $3k like forever, the weirdest bs ever, said they put my "account in a negative balance" and that my sales would pay it off, and I sold quite a few things and they kept all the money.

Today, they said my account was suspended "because I hadn't paid my bill of $1876".

Somehow both my cards on file were outdated by 2 years, just bogus, I've been buying stuff on Reverb the whole time.

I could not update the info on my card, twice, the good old "unexpected errors" bs.

So I had to re-enter the card - Mastercard - from scratch.

Reverb default for country was Afghanistan.

My wife was even saying, watch out this seems like a scam.

I entered my card, and they withdrew $1876 so fast it would make your head spin.

Two months to make this problem go away.

Just sharing.

I know there is a tendency to want to give buyers a chance to consider their buy, but not on used instruments where a thorough description should nail every scab. My shop states that the sales are final, but I agree to hear complaints in the event a buyer finds a loophole issue that I didn't catch. It's a better way to handle faraway transaction.

Sounds like your stress was part of the price.

Afghanistan is the very first country on the planet in an alphabetical list....so under "Country" when filling out some online forms, it just happens to be visible in the blank box until you click on it, just like once you click on United States of America, in the "state" box, Alabama is often visible until you click on it. No big deal.

I wish Reverb never sold out. They were much better before. Now becoming more like ebay. I am back to trying to sell direct locally or through forums. Middle men mess things up.

Aside from rare unforeseen disasters of circumstance, miscommunication, misrepresentation, lack of knowledge, and/or carelessness, I'm sure the Reverb system serves the traders of musical instruments well, with reasonable fees for it's widespread exposure. I can always trace any glitch to some kind of user error, and while I'd always prefer a hand to hand exchange, out where I live it's my best access to the kind of guitars I love to play.

It's easy to work the system if you play rules and pay attention to detail. Again, I wouldn't offer matter of fact returns on vintage and used items in that market.
