I have one for sale, just in case…

Thanks...

I paid about $800 for this guitar... not to worried about it. It is for sale. When or if it sells, great! For now it is just another flavor to have!

I have a NS SFIV and play it through my Marshall Lead 12, or my Deluxe Reverb and while I definitely can get dark tones, it’s got more mid range bite to me, but like any guitar and amp combo, you’ve got to tweak all your knobs til it gets what to where you like it. My biggest problem with mine is since I’ve been playing both my LP Standard and Ultra strat, is that now my SF neck feels like plastic and is honestly a turn off. That might be why I‘d sell mine, but we’ll see.

If you’ve listed the guitar for sale this may be a moot point but is it still too dark with the volume turned up all the way on the guitar? I find the treble roll off on many guitars’ volume pots unacceptable and use either “50’s” wiring or a treble bleed cap and resistor when needed.

Good luck with whatever you do, but lots of suggestions here on how to change the tone of your guitar.

If I were you, I'd work on modding the Starfire and making it perfect, but then again I'm a huge Guild fan! :D

Try Ernie Ball Cobalt guitar strings. They are super bright.
What strings you using now?

Tone quests can take some time. I hope you find the right guitar for your needs!
The Tone Quest is a life-long journey that I hope is never-ending. Trying new gadgets and new approaches is a blast.
