Fantastic story. Thanks for posting that. Being a kid growing up in suburban Detroit, I saw Seger when his band was called the Bob Seger System.
There's three great documentaries out there on sessions players. One on the Swampers of Muscle Shoals, one the Wrecking Crew of Los Angeles and one called "In the Shadows of Motown" about the Funk Brothers who were the Motown session players heard on all the great Motown hits. All three documentaries are worth watching. Great stuff.
