Can someone with a 60's Thunderbird tell me about the built-in 'kickstand' on these? Not too many photos of the back sides around on the 'net. I saw one small photo, but it was a straight-on shot, and it's hard to tell what's what on it.

1) Does it fold down into a routed out cavity on the body?

2) Is there some kind of clip that keeps it from folding out on it's own ?

3) I have heard there is a rubber 'foot' on the bottom that's supposed to keep it from slipping on a hard floor/surface. Ooooo-weee! What's up with that... What's up with that !?

Thanks for reading my humbly un-edu-ma-cated query...

Here's some prior discussion, but the images Hans posted are no longer available. Maybe he will re-host then for you.

Hello CrackerBlues44,

Welcome! Sure I can post these pictures again. Here we go!

Yes, it does! When it's not engaged it is more or less flush with the back of the body.

No clip, but there's a small round magnet that keeps the stand in place.

As you can see in the previous photos, there is no rubber 'foot'. There were however a couple of small feet attached to the body at the points were the body rested on the floor when the stand was in use.

These photos show the built-in stand on a Polara S-100, but it would be the same on a Thunderbird S-200.

Sincerely,

the Crash-o-Matic stand on the S-200 is about 1.5" longer as the one on the Polara
I'm definitely sure about the length difference, because I fitted a Polara stand on my Thunderbird and it's too short
