I attended his performance last night. He was scheduled to play with Cris Jacobs but ended up playing solo for two hours. (Cris had a family emergency.) Non-stop masterclass. Pretty incredible. I don't know how a brain can send signals to so many body parts in so little time. It's like musical chess - he's planning moves well ahead of where his hands are at the moment. He played (abused in some cases) any one of three guitars (below) that he only described as being built in Australia using indigenous woods. They were amped up pretty loud, sounded great, and the light/fog show added some atmosphere to his self- inflicted pyrotechnics. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of break-neck speed up and down the frets (although he can and did play some quiet pieces), but I'm glad I was able to see one of the few CGPs around. Funny moment: a button on his right hand shirt cuff was bothering him (ticking while he played he said although I couldn't hear it) so a stage hand came out with a little knife and cut it off. Who knows, maybe that was a planned rest break? If you go, try to get a good seat up close - well worth the extra few bucks. Good show Tommy!

Saw him earlier this year and he is a monster player. Does this little thing where he shows you how he starts playing some chords regular-like, then adds a bass run and gets that going, then adds some percussion to it by smacking and drumming on the guitar and adds some "brush" technique by rubbing a worn area near the upper horn of his guitar, then adds in his scorching acoustics leads, then kicks it all up a notch...then turns around as if to give kudos to the band, of which there is none! The crowd went wild!!!

Really a great player, showman and quite a good singer also. He's coming back this summer and I may buy tickets to see him again.

I saw him a number of years ago at BB Kings in Manhattan. I am in awe of and admire his technical abilities. He doesn't really do it for me musically, however, we live a mile from "the Cap" and often attend shows last minute if we don't have plans and there are good deals available on Stub Hub. Good chance we'll be there. Neil Young is playing in Bridgeport that night but tix ar ridiculously expensive. Will check for deals on that one as well.

There is a video on Youtube where he shows how he takes a screwdriver to his new Maton and scratched up the top for his percussive scratching.

We have tickets for the EGG in Albany next Friday. Great venue, excellent sound, not a bad seat in the house

Where did he play in Gettysburg? The theatre off Lincoln Square across from the Lincoln Diner? I forgot the name. I know the town quite well. I've been going to G'burg at least once a year since 1992. I always stay at the Quality Inn on Steinwehr.

Yes, the Majestic, right off Lincoln Square. I tried to get our Clapton tribute band booked there. Unsurprisingly, no one returned my calls.

I went to his meet and greet at The Egg a couple of years ago. I'm passing up this show since I'm seeing the Dixie Dregs w/Steve Morse Band on Sunday and Jon Anderson in early June. I became a member at The Egg so I can get pre-sales. Also I may have an extra ticket to the BEAT (Adrian Belew, Steve Vai, Tony Levin, and Danny Carey) show on Oct 21.
