A 43 year old Guild D40 meets a 2023 D140. Similar in many ways although very different.
After I get a couple small areas of high fret on the D40 and the D140 these are going to be a great pair.
The D40 is about as clean as I've ever seen in an instrument of this age. All original
With original case and plenty of saddle left with low action. Beautiful over tones and a lovely voice. They must have polished it because it is way better than presented in the action. Long time search for "the" D40 has ended with a guitar way nicer than I thought I would ever own of its's age.
The D140 is such a surprise as it is very open sounding and a bit crisper - and it is 43 years newer. I have been very impressed with Westerly Collection acoustics (set up,set up,set up - can't stress enough)and this particular D140 stands out. But this one was very nicely set up right out of the sealed box.
Neither guitar has any finish or grain issues - those are just reflections.
