I have a friend's Ibanez guitar that had the bridge pull up. Well, it wasn't actually the bridge pulling up, it was the entire finish separating from the top and taking the bridge with it. In order to repair it I'm going to have to probably take all the finish off the top, figure out where the bridge is supposed to go, and glue that down after peeling the finish off the bottom.
That ought to be a fun project for a $150 guitar.

At least I get to shellac the top, which probably will make it sound better than that 1/4-in thick plastic that was on it.

Holy mackerel, the bridge pulled off of this WC D-140CE. Looks like the finish was never removed before gluing so it was glued over the finish. Not good.

I kind of think/hope that some new guy didn’t know the order of things but recent difficulties between …. May have helped to cause some break downs . Easy fix though .

I wouldn't say all as I simply don't know, but rosewood bridges glued with CA to the poly top is common in China factories. Actually a rosewood bridge to a poly finish has a strong bond using CA!

Can't say what the glue was in the example above, also we don't know where that picture is from as GG didn't provide a link to further look.

I remember for instance this example, guess why the poly finish was pulling away...

I purchased a D-260CE from a private seller. He owned it 9 months but sold it because he couldn't take it where he was moving to. I was hesitant because I didn't know much about Westerly models. However, I purchase it and the matching Guild hardshell case for $450, so I figured I'll take a gamble on it.
It's paid off pretty well. The sound is huge and clear. For a China acoustic, it's impressed some of my guitar friends who play higher end acoustics. It's actually has become my main player at gigs now. It sounds beautiful going direct into an Allen and Heath Zed10FX into an Evolve 50. Maybe I got lucky.

Here's a GAD-50. It appears that the GAD series may have had the bridge glued to the spruce rather than the finish.

I like my Made in China M240 a lot. It's a very playable and a pretty decent sounding guitar and it is now my main "any and all gigs" guitar. I only paid $250 for it! I swapped out the Dearmond Tone Boss for a Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker. My S&P Songsmith, with the Tone Boss installed, has now been passed on to a dear friend's son. It's a real upgrade for him.

Similarly, it's not on the level with my M40 (which I'm bringing to "better" gigs), but they kind of do their own things.

Has Guild been using the same Chinese factory since the GAD series?
