This is my first post, so I figured I would say hello as I have been a long-time lurker here ever since I acquired a 1966 X-175 (as suggested by my user name, which I will probably change at some point.) I also want to thank everyone who posts here frequently, as I have learned quite a bit from just reading this forum.

Anyways, my question pertains to a 1973 D-55 listed on Facebook Marketplace. What would something like this be worth? I know that is not an easy question to answer, especially considering this guitar wasn't even in a standard production model in 1973. My only other question is, other than cosmetics, is there any difference between this guitar and a D-50 from the same year??

Here is a picture from the listing and the listing.

Welcome to the boards, X! I usually just look at reverb.com and compare what's there and the asking prices, or better yet, sold listings. A 2010 (New Hartford-built) in reported excellent condition went for just $2,000, and several sold for between $2000-3000, so I don't know why that one from 1973 (with unknown saddle height) would go for $3,750. I'm no dread expert, but I think the D50's just don't have as much bling as the D55's (the fret markers, the G-shield).... This link should go to D55 sold listings....

Hi X-175. Welcome aboard.

I can't help you with a Facebook listing, but it looks nice from the one picture. Are you sure it's 1973? I can't read the label, so I can't help you date it.

I'd guess somewhere in the $2K range, regardless. Less if it needs any neck/saddle work.

Any D 55 from the special order era would be worth more to me than the stock models that came along, but that's just me. Way optimistic on the price unless perhaps, it just had a fret job and a neck reset. Even then, I'd had to have had a great day at the races.
