Woody Pines, for the Uninitiated

Here's another plug for my first cousin once removed, who seems to be gaining some traction in the states after moving to Nashville and hooking up with some better musicians a couple of years back. Woody (real name John Woods, but don't tell him I told you that) struggled for a long time plying his trade, and I give him a lot of credit for toughing it out and living the dream. Here's his latest promo reel

He really puts on a rousing live show, and I try to see him and support him when he's in town. Give him a try when he's in your area!

He's developed a pretty good following in the UK, and is headed there shortly Markus. I thought it was too bad that he wasn't going to be in Scotland when we're there in September. It would be really cool to see him over there!

I sure hope so Toni! Muddy Roots Records is still in its infancy, but already has some pretty formidable acts like Pokey Lafarge, The Blasters, and Lydia Loveless. They also have their own music festival every year outside of Nashville. Not coincidentally, Woody was playing near me in Brooklyn last night, and Mrs. Two, myself, and my niece were all in attendance. My niece was even generous enough to offer up her place nearby so the boys would have a place to crash, bless her heart!
