I just got back to my roots, so to speak, and acquired a guitar similar to my first high-quality electric. I used to have an X-500 from 2001, but this time I decided to go for one from 1974 due to the HB-1 pickups (and, really, the price difference between guitars of those two years was pretty small).
When it arrived, I was a bit surprised to find that it has pretty big frets. Not quite as big as modern jumbos, but certainly taller and wider than my '72 Bluesbird. A bit of online reading informed me that this was standard on this model for a while. Out of curiosity, when were X-500s given big frets? Was it done across the Guild electric guitar line or just on certain models?
