Welcome to the S-100 sticky thread!

Below are links to many LTG threads that contain information about the S-100 model produced by Guild during the '70's and '90's. If you're interested in this particular model this is the place to begin.

Caution: you may experience the onset of S-100 mania and/or develop sudden GAS pains upon reading what follows. You've been warned!

Enjoy!

And thank you for single-handedly re-introducing the S100 and other solid body guitars. It was you and your posse that put them back in front of the members ... until you showed up and your enthusiasm made them interesting again, nobody had paid much attention to them.

(That's overstating it a bit, but thanks, cap'n. RIP. - Q.)

Great, edit out the introduction, send the link to Don, and I'm sure he'll make it a sticky. Nice work!

Thanks Walter!

I figured I'd give it a little time for some feedback from others and some tweaking, then I'll kick it upstairs.

That was hella kewl...nice work. It was a trip reading through some of those and even better reading some that were before my time here. It also made it evident that we all really need to screenshot eBay and CL ads for posterity.

Yep. Or at least quote specifics from the description in the hope that less than 1000 words is worth more than no picture.

Nice work Q!

Indeed. That's why I left out a lot of the Ebay/Craigslist/gbase threads. There's just not enough info in a lot of them.

As for screen shots, I've done some lately, and so has Thunderface. But it's been a trial and error process as Photobucket has deleted some of the ones I've hosted there due to violations of their policies.

Thanks!

What/which policies?

The warning didn't say specifically and I didn't read up on it. Seemed to be the ones that captured the entire Ebay listing, so I would imagine it has something to do with reposting too much material from Ebay. No problems with posting CL ads. Anyway, I make sure now to crop out the Ebay logo and item number.

Thanks again, y'all!

As interesting as it is to look back at the threads by year, a sticky would probably be better if organized topically. So I'm going to edit the original post. Let me know if it's better this way.

March 2011 issue of Vintage Guitar has an article on the S100; nice full page pic & two page article by Michael Wright on page 54.

Sorry, I can't link to the article, but page down about halfway & you can read the table of contents reference.

From the article:

"At this point, at least one example of the carved body in a transparent cherry finish has been sighted."

The guitar in question is mine! :) I had had some e-mail conversations with the article's author, Michael Wright, about it and I had sent him some photos, prior to the publication of the article.

Very cool Thunder. Gotta wonder how many of these left the factory. Or was it a special order?

Thanks. That's a good question, one I think we've discussed before. Martin123 has a black Carved stereo, and our two are the only non-nature boy Carveds that I've seen.
