I think it would be helpful if you included WHICH model it is that you're showing us and what's distinctive about it (what stones and trim that makes it unique). Yes?

Derrick's guitar, if like those I've seen and played, says "DV72MK" on the soundhole tag. It's a DV72 inlaid with malachite as opposed to the turquiose. Also, they were inlaid in both green and blue turquoise. I've even seen one with blue turquoise fretmarkers and a green turquoise "G Shield" on the same guitar.

I know.... it's just total guitar porn. These are truly some of the most BEAUTIFUL guitars ever made.... I'm envious of you guys. And even though I say I don't want another dread, if one of these came up anywhere near me..... I'D GO FOR IT!!!

Beautiful guitars, guys.

More please...... :D :D

Thanks guys, the first time I saw a malachite DV72 like Derrick has, I fell in love. They truly are exceptionally stunning. And the really cool thing about them is that they play and sound as good as they look. The upper end DV's really are incredible guitars. I feel pretty lucky to be caretaker of them for a while.

Between Treem and Derrick, well you guys have about got me sold on the gold Grover Imperials. I intend to change the tuners on the DV72 one day as the key screws get loose from time to time, and I'm thinking the gold might look better. I like 'em.

Jim, they're on my D65s as well, and they're very nice looking tuners. I replaced my whole set back about a year and a half ago. Just for being technically correct, though.... those are Grover Super-Rotomatics with Art Deco knobs.
You'll find them here: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/...rs/Grover_Tuners/Grover_Super_Rotomatics.html

The Grover Imperial tuners are a different tuner, although they also have the Art Deco knobs. I have only seen them on archtops almost exclusively. You'll find them here: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Grover_Tuners/Grover_Imperials.html

Also, keep in mind that Grover stands behind their tuners and if you're having trouble with a specific tuner, contact them. They have a lifetime guarantee and they will replace or repair them. I found this out AFTER I had replaced all my tuners! However, I'm glad I did it because they're all NEW and SHINY and they really perk up the look of the guitar. The gold gets a little dull and muted over the years.

Yes sir, actually I was aware of that. As I recall, Grover Imperials actually have a slightly different gearhead, not the round one that we've gotten on the high end DV's, we just call them Imperials. Both my DV72 and DV73 have them......the round gearhead that is. I was just referring to the fact that I like the gold, as my DV's have the silver. I have also bought tuners from Grover and replaced them on my JF55. Though they are the "correct" tuners in terms of appearance, I actually bought 18:1's and installed them.....love 'em.
