In honor of gibsonjunkie, and after consultation with Frono, I decided to create a "My First Guild" post to which you can post photos of your first Guild. Since he was the inspiration, I'll start with gibsonjunkie's F-212XL first...

EDITOR'S NOTE: My apologies if this post has been done before. My guess is that it has, which is why I consulted with Frono, who admitted he didn't recall one of the top of his head, and told me to gopher it.

My old D-25M on the right, purchased new by me in '76. This was my only guitar until about ten years ago when I caved in to GAS and bought the DV-52.

My first which now belongs to a member of my band. I sold it to her shortly after I got my fancy Starfire III.

Is that an original sparkle finish? My first was an '81 S300A-D I got off Craigslist from a guy in Houston who I eventually became friends with. That was followed by many others, and the S300A-D was sold on eBay. The seller then sold it to LTGer ironworm, who PMed me to inform me that he had purchased my Guild.

My Guild Detonator and yes I regret not keeping it. It was no longer original but man the neck was awesome on that thing! The Duncan pickups, the custom wire job and the Babicz Full Contact Hardware Custom Shop 2-Point Strat tremolo... I think I'm gonna cry.

I was surely a late-blooming Guildphile, but for me it started with this Tacoma-built F-512 hanging on the wall at Union Music 6 years ago. When I bought this guitar, I'd been on about a 20-year hiatus from guitar playing.

Fact is, I couldn't afford Guild back when I was learning in the '70s, but I did covet my friend's D-25 among others. Back in '06 when I found out Guild was still making guitars and then I banged out a chord or two on this puppy, I was hooked. It's been a really fun ride since:

I'll play. Here is my D35 NT (alongside my D-60). Bought her in New Jersey early to mid 80's.

Are you smiling in this photo, Kurt, because even at that young age, you just knew that some day there would be 101 more Guilds (and counting...) in your possession?

My original owner '73 D50. It's been with me most of my life, and every ding as a story behind it. :)

The one and only 74 D40 purchased new in 75 on Telegraph Rd. just south of Detroit. Two things that I know that I own 100% in this lifetime are this Guild and a solid oak, beveled glass front book case that I strapped to the top of a VW bug with the sun roof open and hauled up to a 4th floor apt.

Oh and recently rebuilt by Kim in his new NH shop. :)

Do amps count? Bought it at the Fresh Pond Rotory in Boston (Cambridge), out of a van...having answered an ad in the Boston Globe...March 1968...$35

Weber speaker in it now, but still have the original Jensen P12R. Thought the amp was really old and not really what I was expecting...turns out it was really only 5 years old. Wonder how hot it was?

Me, with my '72 D-35 bought new ~Jan 1973. This picture was taken ~'85, when I was living in San Francisco.

I've still got the Guild and the moustache (the Guild preceded the 'stache by a year). Wish I had some of that hair back, tho!

Interestingly, looking at the pic, I can get an idea of the original saddle height (I never had this touched by a technician until ~2006). Looks kind of low... that and the lowest bridge (barely 1/4") on any of my Guilds make me suspect the neck was underset at the factory.

Still have mine, F-212 bought in July or August of 1965. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow.

I rediscovered guitar playing in 2010, and bought a 2010 Guild F512 new shortly afterwords (on the right)

Here I am playing the F512 recently at a bluegrass jam in between sets (the F512 did fit in with the banjo and other guitars)
