After my visit to NAMM last week I am now going to start my series of quick reviews (moreless features, pictures and so on) with the two new Arcos models.
"Arcos" is Spanish for "arches" (since made at Fender/Guild in Ensenada/Mexico) and is referring to the arched back of the Arcos series.
The Guild Arcos series was first introduced last year at NAMM 2012.
Here's the first 2012 press release: http://www.guildguitars.com/news/guild- ... acoustics/
37 pictures of the factory can be seen here: http://www.guitarworld.com/fender-mexic ... photo-tour
The existing 3 Arcos models (AD-3, AD-3CE and AO-3CE) feature laminated mahogany sides and arched back with a solid sitka spruce top.
New for 2013 are two models (AD-5CE and AO-5CE) which feature laminated rosewood (!) sides and arched back.
This picture shows only a small part of the Guild acoustic guitars wall at NAMM 2013, the Arcos series was on the right side:
And here are the two new models in a closer view:
According to Guild's press release "the solid Sitka spruce top, laminated rosewood sides and arched back give it a full, balanced sound with excellent volume and projection."
Both new models feature:
- solid Sitka spruce top
- laminated rosewood sides and arched back
- koa rosette
- Hand-Rubbed Satin Polyurethane finish
- Slim satin-finish mahogany neck
- larger medium jumbo frets
- bone nut and saddle
- 1 ¾” nut width (Fingerstyle players will appreciate the extra string spacing)
- 12" (305 mm) fingerboard radius
- Fishman® Presys Plus pickup system including an onboard electronic tuner and anti-feedback control
- Guild lightweight polyfoam case included.
The other spec items can be found on the Guild webpage under the below links.
