Ah, this must be why I'm able to get a Starfire IV and III for so cheap now from my guitar dealer. They're both $800 and $850 shipped brand new now.

Interesting that they went with the Adjusto-Matic bridge with rosewood base. A year or two ago, in order to get my 67 SFV to sound more like my 67 SFIV, I swapped out the stock Bigsby kit and replaced it with a rosewood base and Adjusto-Matic bridge. I like the guitar a lot better after that mod.

That was only 18 pieces. If there is a new run, it will have a different body shape, I hope. ;-)

And... a Starfire VI needs a Bigsby. A stop tailpiece holds no allure for me. A Bigsby is a must!

Sorry for the ignorant, possibly silly question, but is the distinction between the Newark St. IV and V simply the absence/presence of a Bigsby?

No, block inlays vs. dots, master volume vs. no master volume...Mostly cosmetic, structural basically the same.
So depending which look you like and which features you need you can just replace the bigsby or tailpiece and have one or the other.

Alabama the Beautiful !
either a IV or V will likely be my next purchase.....i'm still so pleased w/my A-150 Savoy that it's hard to describe.... BEST Asian guitar i've ever played. (and i've played literally dozens)
so much guitar for the price range it's nearly insane....
the competition should be nervous.....VERY nervous !!
