I finally got a 12 string acoustic electric a couple of weeks ago and I could not be more pleased. It's a Seagull 12 string, cedar top, laminated wild cherry back and sides, made by Godin out of Canada. Very sweet guitar, not fancy (reminds me of my Guild D-25 in that respect) but does the job very well. I hadn't realized how much fun a 12 string can be until playing with this one for the last couple of weeks. Very high quality, workmanship is spot on. On board pick up, under bridge, sounds great. My buddy with his Martin is quite impressed; I expect him to purchase one in the near future. If I tell you what I paid, you be astounded.

Now I'm looking at a Godin A6 Ultra, in Koa.

They even show and tell you where and how to mount the strap pin. How about that?

Nice; I have a 1990 Seagull 12 I like. I got mine for $150 because the soundhole had sunk in (I think that was common with the early ones) and it had otherwise suffered some hot car + string tension stuff. Nice guitars overall.

The one thing I don't like is that (IIRC) they set the necks with epoxy now for some reason, and you can't reset them (at least not without getting creative, anyway). Old ones like mine aren't and can be very easily reset if/when you need to (I did mine a while back); no idea why they decided to eff that up by needlessly epoxying them on! Still nice guitars otherwise, though.

Your pictures don't work anymore, BTW.

Congratulations! A nice 12 string at a good price...who can argue.

Super versatile guitar. They sound great with the stereo transducer/humbucker blend capability, and those Godin necks are so sweet.

Thanks Christopher. Planning to check out the A6 Ultra when I get back from a weekend getaway. I take it you have played the A6?
Btw, heading to Canada this weekend with the Seagull! Lol!

...I take it you have played the A6?...
Played, but never owned. However, an A12 was in my stable for a little over a year. Great series of guitars.

If anyone has defined the space between the acoustic and the electric guitar, I would vote it is Robert Godin. His "hybrid" guitars (my word, not his) need to be experienced. His willingness to step well beyond the accepted designs of our day have produced truly unique instruments such as the Multiac and the Glissentar.

And here is my local dealer, very nice guy, stands behind the product.

These guitars I am finding are an excellent all around value. Not throwing Guild under the bus, not by any means; I love my Guilds.
But I am getting an awful lot of enjoyment out of my Seagull, without feeling I am playing a cheap import. Well I am (LOL), but not from China or Korea or Indonesia.
