Welcome.

The AI prefix would suggest a F30 from 1965-69 and AI2570 would be a F30 from the end of 1969 but I'm sure someone with a better answer will be along.

Welcome aboard, Matthew!

the "5b" is probably "SB" as in sunburst, right?

Hopefully Hans Moust will chime in here and can look this one up in his records for you. If you don't already own it, pick up a copy of his "Guild Guitar Book" which is the definitive reference for this period of Guilds.

In the meantime, if you have any pictures of the guitar, especially the label and the back of the headstock, that'd help identify it completely. To post pictures on LTG you have to host your pictures elsewhere and link to them in your posts.

Again, welcome aboard!

would anybody have info on a guild F405b Serial #AI2570

Hello Matthew,

Welcome! Like Frono suggested, the serial number prefix is for a Guild model F-30 and not for a model F-40.
If your guitar is indeed an F-30 SB, then the instrument would be manufactured during the year 1970.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
