Don and I saw Mark Knopfler at The Pearl Theater at The Palms Resort about 4 years ago. Honestly, neither of us were huge MK fans at the time, but we walked away with such a HUGE respect for this guy. OMG. One of the best concerts I've ever seen. Amazing!! We remembered him from Dire Straits and then from his work with Emmylou Harris. What an amazing talent!! :encouragement:

My friend Steve & I saw Dire Straits in 1980 at the Royal Oak Music Theater north of Detroit. Their third album, Making Movies, had just come out and they had a new drummer & second guitarist and also a keyboardist. It was a fine show. I remember they played the first side of the album (first three songs, for those of you who've never experienced vinyl LPs) as one continuous piece.

It was Knopfler who got me playing electric guitar more with my fingers, which is what I mostly do these days.

still the coolest solo their at the end of any solo maybe ever done. so recognizable, so clean, so fast, and all with a thumb and forefinger.

Wow...don't know if I have ever seen Knopfler so animated...even in his younger/older videos, never seen him jump or dance around like that.
