In the comments to this video somebody says that Mark Farner of Grand Funk fame was well known for playing guilds and that he had several photos of such. He claims he switched to a Guild from his original Messenger guitar. I always though he switched to a Microfrets! Anybody ever here of this?

Nice! That video prompted my first-ever YouTube comment since he said that the white switch is a phase switch. It's not - it's a tone switch that puts a cap in/out of the circuit.

Yep, it corresponds to the Fender Jag's "strangle" switch. Cuts bass. Same cap value too, I think. I can understand the mistake, though, given that putting pickups out of phase with each other also noticeably cuts lower frequencies.
