Thanks to Steve for another stellar transaction.

I think this guitar has the longest model name ever: M-80-CS-DC-NB

I'd think that "DC" means Double-cut, but aren't all M-80s double-cuts?

Exceptional ! Congrats mate. As always, great pics. They both look much better with the tailpiece set further back. What's the weight difference between the M80 and the M75 ?
Cheers

Seeing as how an S60 and then an S300A-D were my first Guilds, I greatly prefer the look of the tailpiece closer to the bridge. I also find the strings on the M80 to be very slinky, but that doesn't bother me at all. When it comes to tailpieces on Guilds, I'm happy to play them all. :smile-new:

As for the weight:

M-75 CS is 7 lbs 15 oz
M-80 CS is 8 lbs 12 oz

The difference is likely due to the thickness. The M80 CS is noticeably thicker than the M75 CS. They feel surprisingly different even though they look similar.

Cool guitar, GAD! But 8.75 pounds is too heavy for me!

I don't consider anything under 9 pounds to be too heavy, likely because I played an ash S300A-D for 20 years, and that thing was a beast. Slap on a 13 pound Les Paul Custom for a couple of sets and the M-80 will feel like a Starfire II. :smile-new:

Congrats! I dig M-80s. They remind me of Dano shorthorns, but with a little more heft. :) I dig the string length south of the bridge on this one too. It's how both my S-100s are configured…lets me plink that part of the strings Jazzmaster/Jag-style.

Yes,it means 'double cutaway'; I've seen that suffix before, but so far only on early ones.

whatever that thing cost you, surely it must have been worth it just to be able to say, "I don't always play a Guild M-80 Bluesbird, but when I do, I prefer the CS-DC-NB"

So glad this one stayed in the LTG family. M-80s are tough to come by.

Cool! I've always loved the shape of those. I can only think of two other models that are close in shape -- the Epiphone Genesis and, of course, the venerable Gretsch Duo Jet -- both just as cool.

My first guitar was a black Epiphone Genesis!

Good guitar! Good God, was it heavy.
