What an odd guitar. The best way I can describe it is that they seemed like they were trying to make the world's best Super-Strat but were following instructions that were photocopied too many times while using some parts from the import pile. It's *almost* a great guitar with some really odd quirks. Sure is pretty, though

yep, me too. esp. about the oddities.
is this a floyd rose on this? should't it be a kahler?
probably is a kahler, I have no clue about these modern tremoloes.

No, it's a licensed Floyd Rose unit. Various other companies, like Charvel, used them around that time; obviously with their own name on it!

Looks vaguely familiar!

Not to steal GAD's thunder, but one of the quirks is the shape of the tremolo arm, it's a mile off the top of the guitar.

Kind of reminds me of this:

Careful. Looks like you could stab somebody with that headstock!

It will be interesting to see what name Hans will christen that headstock in Volume II.

While we know it as the "Cake knife" I believe Hans has stated in the past that it won't play in Europe.

I love the name cake knife. I think the silverware term might be cake or pie server. I don't think I have enough class to know for sure, though.

Grot is right - the arm feels like it's about 14 inches from the top of the guitar. It's not, but it feels odd. It looks lower in mine due to the angle of the photo which is much more severe where Grot's is more perpendicular to the top.

I love that hot rod pic. Why do I feel like I've seen it before?

Also the wiring is crazy. There's a lot going on in there. :)

Assuming your tongue isn't in your cheek, it's a mash-up of Drag Nut and Rat Fink, and Mr Gasser in a Mustang:

I only have a few select nostalgia buttons left to push.
Choose your next request wisely.
And don't get me started on Marvel comics.

Thank you!

I spent a lot of time building models as a kid, and as a result I spent a lot of time in the store staring at model kits. That's exactly where I know it from.

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was part of my childhood. My brother was crazy for that stuff and had all his models that he built. Then there I was quite a bit younger with my weird OCD thing wanting everything to be STOCK!! LOL!!

My very first model kit, I think I was 6:

Note fly on tongue.
Not sure that'd even be legal anymore.

Hah, I missed out on model cars apart from a late '50s 'Vette my dad inisisted I put together. Despite being a Chrysler guy he though the original 'Vette was visually a gorgeous car. Instead I built Saturn Vs and other Apollo-era spacecraft. I especially remember being proud of my gold foil work on a lunar lander model. :)
