Just bought a F40 in immaculate condition from Elderly Music. They had it dated as a 2007 model. I couldn't find the serial # code in any of the online pages for serial #'s. I posted a few months ago about the same challenge for my D30. Couldn't find it anywhere, but someone here dated it as a 2001, still not sure how he knew this. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
Looking at the Dating Your Guild pdf, the "P" would appear to be 2011.
Could someone confirm this one way or another?

My F40 serial # is: NP054004

Hans wrote the book on Guilds, at least as far as mid-Westerly era, and is working on Vol. II. He has collected records and paperwork and dates them as correct as anyone on the planet, on the charts, or not. The late 90s, 2000s era just aren't on the charts yet.

Tacoma and New Hartford used a Julian calendar strategy for serial #'s.

Your serial number deciphered:

N = New Hartford
P = 2012
054 = The 54th day of that year
004 = The fourth guitar of the day
