This is the weekend of the summer Philly guitar show. There was a time that I would plan for these shows, Philly and another one long ago in the NY East side.
Not anymore, the guitar shows have really gone downhill over the past 10 years or so, I suppose that the internet has dealt them a blow, but still it's nice to hold them in your hand and play them, but the new generation of dealers at the booths seem to have an attitude.
The last one that I attended, I brought a 1963 Gibson J-50 with me that I had removed the plywood bridge plate and replaced it with maple, leaving it adjustable. (It had "Adjustable bridge" stamped in the soundhole, I didn't want to make a liar out of it....). One of the young dealers asked me if I still had the original. I sort of growled at him, "I have a boxful of them, you want one?"..
I guess it's better to stay home.
