I picked this up earlier this week. I found it via a response to a Craigslist wanted ad that I'd posted. In a metroplex with over 2 million people....the Seller lives about 5 blocks from my house. It isn't a closet queen....but it plays like a closet queen. Superb neck angle...awesome action...relatively narrow neck. I sure wish that someone hadn't left a capo attached to the head stock for long term storage...but everything else on it is so 'correct' I decided that it didn't bother me much. I'm enjoying it very much....comfortable as hell to play. Super pretty fret board. It looks pretty good....but it plays great.

What, like, "I want your Guild"? That's brilliant!

I got my Vox amp from a guy who lived about 20 miles away, but he worked NEXT DOOR to where i worked. I paid the guy and carried it back to my office, lol. I love this amp, but it could probably use a new tube or something since some of the amp models seem to be missing of late....

Sometimes Craigslist works quite well. That looks like a beauty.

Beautiful F30. Mucho congrats! Short scale or long?

Long scale...25.5. Of course...I went to look at it in hopes that it would be a short scale....and ended up buying it anyway. It plays like butter. I was seeking short scale exclusively to have a super easy to play, easy to learn on, comfortable guitar. This particular model...the F-30...has a body shape that I think is comfortable and easy whether long scale or not.

I'd always assumed the phrase derives from butter's innate malleability.

:) and if you have free time you can look here http://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/330/what-does-plays-like-butter-mean or here https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/what-does-plays-like-butter-mean.927491/ or here http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/what-makes-a-guitar-plays-like-butter.347264/ or here where they think the phrase dreadful http://www.strat-talk.com/threads/plays-like-butter.384905/

Anywho....the thing plays nice and easy...it doesn't require that I strangle her to make sweet even tones....I don't have to push, pull, squeeze, or press real hard anywhere.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

There's that puzzling comment again...."plays like butter."
I think we get your point but I'm still curious about the origin of the phrase.
Anyone?

Curious Joe

Dunno, but it's probably better than "sounds like butter".

Nice! I picked up a '51 Gibson LG2 last week off CL. Bargain from son of original owner.

That's a good acquisition. I really like the modern Gibby take - the American Eagle - that I played. REALLY liked it, actually.
