I haven't seen David Byrne mentioned on this thread--though I found that he's been pointed out before on older threads and even on the Guild website (though, in that case, for his electric). I just saw a clip from a recent live performance--maybe for the Utopia tour, I think--and this sight came as news to me:

I live in a town that gets a lot of tourists passing through in the summer.
One stopped yesterday to buy a guitar from a local music store...

Check it out to see what he bought.

I'll ask.
I go back a long way with Mike's Music. We were good friends for over 40 years.

Mike Doggett, the guy who owned this store, was a tremendous asset to the music community here.
Mike was famous for giving so many kids their start and for helping the local professionals out when they were in a jam.
He would always find a way to get a PA set up for the kids who were in their first garage band, and he would go open his store in the middle of the night to get a working musician a replacement cord for one that went out in the middle of the night with 2 sets still left to play.
Every working musician I know around here bought something from Mike.

Mike was an excellent guitarist and singer. His own teenage garage band was a brief one-hit wonder that cracked the Top 40 for about 10 minutes in 1968, but never broke up. They remained a band, with 2 replacements, over 40 years and were still playing gigs when he died.

Covid 19 got him in early 2020. I saw him on a Tuesday, and he was gone the following Sunday morning.
His widow and sons now keep his store going.
