Hello,
Very long time Guild enthusiast, new forum member. I have a 1982 S250 with XR7 p'ups. I am interested in adding a coil split. I contacted Dimarzio tech support and was told they never made a XR7 pickup. So, does anyone know what the original manufacturer name of these p"ups were?

Later models just say Guild XR7 Made in USA on the back if memory serves. This one is from a 1981 M80:

Also the later XR7s that I have in my collection are 4-wire so are splittable as are the ones in the pics above. HTH.

Thank you for the info. Mine has 4 leads also. 2 whites are not hooked up. They are neatly covered with cloth insulation. I just need to get a push pull pot and figure out how to create a split coil.
I'm still reeling from seeing a Nightingale that sold on ebay. I've looked for one for decades. Missed it on ebay. Killer!!
Anyway thanks so much.

Then avert your eyes. :emmersed:

I really wanted that Nightingale on eBay, but got distracted in the last hour. This one is technically an X3000, but it scratches that itch pretty well. :)

Also, coil split is very simple. Let me know if you need help with the wiring.

That is very nice. Love those. I've had about every model of Guild made, from New Jersey to RI. Just not a Gale. I lived a few miles from the Westerly factory, so I ran into some cool memoribilia also. I wish I had some of those old Guilds I parted with!

Thank you, I just may do that! One of my friends is a Luthir in RI. He has a shop a few blocks from the old Westerly factory. He worked there back in the day. Unfortunately, I am in Arizona now...so it is difficult to bring him my guitar.
I am going to get the pot, and then I may ask for your overview. Thanks again!
