    Spare a thought for the poor folk who have to remember "5.90551 inches" when they'd rather opt for 150mm. ;)

    Let alone the issue of how much difference 1/16th of an inch makes when it comes to nuts.

    2.54 cm per inch...
    3 x 10 "to the 8th" meters per second...speed of light in vacuum,
    9.8 meters per second squared ...acceleration due to gravity...
    Speed of sound 340 meters per second...

    All are approximate for engineering...
    If planning a deep space probe you need a lit mor decimal places...
    Go to college and learn all the physical constants in metrics then come back to real world in the good old USA and have to learn them all over in English...way to hard to remember in English.
    Gigga = Billion, Megga = Million...kilo= k thousands!
