Westerly made, AG30226x. Can anyone confirm if this is from 2000 or 2001?

Thanks!

Hey there, GGJaguar. I think you'll have to wait for Hans to respond. He has the most accurate serial number records. Although different in shape and feel from the classic earlier SFs, those are beautiful, well-crafted guitars. What finish is it?

BTW, would you happen to be the GGJaguar with the amazing Guitarium and Ampeteria site?

I can neither confirm nor deny, but... maybe. :)

Anybody know what type of wood is used for the inner laminates on these late SF II and IIIs? Looks like 2-ply birch(?) or maple between the outer 2 layers of mahogany.

GVJaggeer...are you the guy who was one of the first guys to post a lot of info about Guild amps? I believe you posted material over 20 years ago?

Are you the guy?

A hah! I've loved and perused your site for many years. It's hard to believe that you had so much great information posted for so long, considering how "young" the internet is. I'm hugely appreciative of the great pics and specs for so many stellar guitars and amps.

Again, I think Hans would know better, but considering Guild's past tradition of laminated maple tops, I would think maple.

My 2000 SF4 from Westerly is AG0014x

Are you sure you're reading that S/N correctly?

AG30x numbers belong to Starfire 2 and 3, not 4.

As example, Hans previously dated AG302017 as 1999 and AG302223 as year 2000. But that doesn't answer the OP's question about AG30226x.

Ah - thanks, Ralf. When I see "Starfire" my brain just fills in "Starfire 4" for some reason. I blame the heat.

It could be worse - Is a Starfire 2 a bass or guitar? That's probably why most people who talk about the basses gravitate to Roman numerals, Starfire I and II. But there are threads that have gone for several posts before the posters realized one was talking about a guitar and the other a bass.

Thanks, glad you like it. I really need to go through it and update it. So much new information since 1997!
