Hello. I have today got my hands on a 1968 (birth year!) F20 NT. I have a query about the headstock design. I am convinced it is genuine as the serial number matches up with label but I cannot find another like it. What are your thoughts? Thanks

It's a genuine headstock alright, but I doubt very much it left the Guild plant like that!

Possibly it's a Guild that lost its headstock overlay at some point and someone fashioned this version in their home workshop? Maybe?

Without knowing more of the background (and seeing the rest of the guitar) it's hard to say much more about it.

The original black celluloid headstock veneer and Guild logo got lost and somebody carved a phantasy "Guild" logo and phantasy "Guild" Chesterfield into the remaining mahogany wood. Could be corrected by adding a new headstock veneer (one could use ebony) with the correct logo.
A 1968 F-20 would have a serial number between AG 2500 and AG 2793.
That's an original 1968 F-20 headstock: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0202/0250/products/1968-F-20NT-Flat-Top-headstock.jpg
In the picture you can see that the original black celluloid shrunk already, so sometimes people just removed a severely shrunken veneer instead of fixing it.

If you are brave enough to order from Russia: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hornbeam-Guild-HeadStock-Veneer-With-Mother-of-Pearl-Logo-G1-/112047012323

I agree.
Looks like something happened to the faceplate so this was the fix.
In the photo it even looks like the outline itself may have been re-shaped a slight bit, as if maybe there was an imact on the crown, on the left side.
