It may be sacrilege to say this, but I never *got* Doyle Dykes at all. He never did anything for me as a performer/guitarist and I thought that Guild could have found some younger performers to endorse their gear. Having "the greatest player you never heard of" (his words, iirc), wasn't the swiftest pr move in the world.

I have no idea if he still does it but I saw him at a show and he went into preaching-the-gospel mode and that was a huge turnoff. Just play guitar, man, we got churches for that.
