My new Thunderbass arrived today. I’ll try posting pictures. This amp is filthy but it should clean up quite nicely. No tears in the tolex. All knobs look solid. It really needs a cleaning, inside and out. I’ll get it checked out in a week or so.

Here are some shots of the innards. Anyone know how to date it?

Thanks for the heads up. I bit the bullet and opened a Photobucket account so I can post pictures here.

Best way to date would be with the transformer and pot codes. I can’t quite read the 2nd 6 digit number in the first pic of post #3, but the first 3 digits will be the manufacturer, and the last 3 will be the year and week. I think I can read 606 (which is Woodward-Schumacher, a known Guild supplier) then 814(?), which would be the 14th week of 1968.

Yes, 606814. One of the pictures in the first post is a closeup of those numbers.

Ooops, apologies if I prompted you to jump too quickly, lot of members resent their pay-for-hosting model and have migrated to Imgur, if it's not too late for you or helps going forward.
Although sooner or later I think that one's bound to go to a pay-for-service model too.

They are back to free hosting, but with a watermark when posting to a forum.

Right but I noticed his images have no watermarks, and it's still a "pay for higher-quality" model.
Dang after lookin at those pics all of a sudden I want one of those.
And don't have a single use for it unless I move way out to the boonies where the neighbors wouldn't care.
WAY out in the boonies.

It’s all good. I want to be able to post pics of my cool Guild gear. If it means I have to keep a Photobucket account... so be it. As long as it doesn’t interfere with my ability to buy vintage gear...

That ought to clean up nice! When you go to replace that handle, just search "Ampeg type". Every place that sells amp parts, sells them now.
