    Template for 1976 D-55 Pickguard

Hey my fellow Guild junkies. I am looking for a template of a pickguard from a 1976 era D55.

I thought this is likely one of the best places on Earth to ask, the other is Hans Moust, to whom I have already sent an email :)

If yours has the sensibly shaped earlier pickguard as opposed to the later near dinner plate sized ones (pet peeve of mine), I made one from scratch, Hans had a sheet of the material.

The template is on the net somewhere.

I'll dig up some pics, may even have the template in the computer somewhere, it's been about three summers now?

    Tracing paper

    PG traced out

    PG cut out

The guitar some time later... Don't you hate it when you do before and after pics and forget to take the after pics... Never took a close up of the guard.

My Google Fu is apparently still pretty good, not only I found a template, but someone who can send you a guard ready to put on.

The template is UA16, here's a PDF you can print.

And a pic. You can put your own little contours on it, you can cover previous damage at the edges and prevent shadow lines from the old guard, should its shape been slightly different etc.

Thx W, sharing knowledge is awesome, coming or going.

I love that early pg shape, really does it for me, very flowing organic lines.

Also like the way the small guard gives the bridge a little breathing room.

    Details...
